About

Hi, I'm Andrea the author of Rasmussen Restoration & Design Blog. I live in Colorado with my amazing husband, Cory and our precious puppy Peyton. We are expecting our first child who will be arriving here in December and we could not be more excited to have a little man running around our home. We just bought our first house here in Colorado this year and are excited to make it feel like "home". Things I LOVE-  My husband, this amazing little man in my belly, Social justice, defending the rights of the poor, Africa, History, Culture, Diversity, Traveling, Photography (Although I do not have a creative eye), Art, People, The Outdoors, Camping, Thunderstorms, Making a difference the world, Missions, MUSIC, Singing, Laying in a Hammock, Home cooked meals, POP, Dancing, Volleyball, Ultimate Frisbee and Learning.

How this blog got started was actually a dream of my mother-in-law, Brenda's whom also lives here in Colorado. My mother-in-law has always had a love for restoring furniture and DIY projects. She is one crafty woman. I absolutely love going to her home and seeing all the new projects she finds at yards sale, thrift stores, or things she just creates. We were talking one day about all her furniture she has restored and it came up that we should start a small business restoring furniture. I told her that I would love to do it and one day we just starting selling the furniture on craiglist and writing about it here on this blog. I am definitely not an expert, just someone curious about DIY projects and restoring furniture. I am learning as we go and enjoy sharing our adventures and projects here with the world.  We have just started this and are learning how to communicate our passion here on our blog. We can only hope that we are inspiring others and this business will grow over time.

This is Brenda, my mother-in-law! She is the backbone of this whole endeavor. She's amazing! She has been married to her husband for 30 years and has 3 boys (28, 25, 23). In 1985 Brenda and her husband Jim moved to Pakistan with their first born, Cory (my husband) to do Afghan Refugee Aid work. They lived there for 13 years and Brenda had two more boys while living in Pakistan (I give her a lot of credit for this). They moved back to the states in 1998 and finally settled down here in Colorado in 2007. They recently bought a home here and are enjoying fixing it up and making it feel like home. Brenda is excited for their first grand child to be born here in December (let's just say our little man is going to be spoiled by his grandparents). Not only does she work on restoring furniture, but she works full time as the state side administrator for an orphanage in Nairobi, Kenya. They have 50+ kids residing in the orphanage and just recently had the first child adopted by a local Kenyan family.  In her spare time she enjoys getting her hands dirty and making old ugly things look new.

Thanks for stopping by our blog! We hope you enjoy the things we create and we look forward to sharing our adventures and restorations with you.
